Uniform Patrol Division (Precinct Commander) CSO 02/03/13 – 08/02/15
Assigned to the Bridge Mill as the Precinct Commander. Ensures the fair treatment of all personnel in accordance with federal and state laws concerning discrimination; reports all incidents or complaints of discrimination or harassment to the Division Commander so that appropriate corrective action can be taken. Serves as a positive role model to motivate employees to achieve or exceed performance measures.
Conducts inspections of personnel, facilities, equipment, supplies, and vehicles to meet appearance, security and safety standards; follows-up on deficiencies and determines appropriate actions to be taken.
Corrects employees by identifying substandard performance or conduct; determines remedial training or other appropriate measures to be taken to upgrade employee performance to acceptable levels and/or to advise superiors of disciplinary issues with recommendations for their necessary action.
Reviews, approves and maintains timekeeping records, leave requests, compensatory time.
Determines appropriate staffing levels to satisfy operational requirements and the regulations of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Uniform Patrol Division Cherokee Sheriff’s Office 11/19/10 – 02/03/13
Assigned to the Bridge Mill Precinct as the Shift 2 Watch Commander (Sergeant). Monitors workload and assesses need to re-prioritize assignments; determines personnel, equipment, and other assigned resources needed to meet operational requirements; and coordinates additional support when required with other personnel or outside agencies.
S.W.A.T. (Team Commander) Cherokee S/O 02/17/00-Present
Appointed S.W.A.T. Team Commander on August 25, 2015
On March 14th 2008, appointed as Assistant Team Commander by the Sheriff. Duties include: commanding a 33 man team in the absence of the Commander, develop team training scenarios, maintain up-to-date blue prints of Board of Education buildings, inventory and inspect team equipment, and serve as team leader during entry team operations.
Certified Master S.W.A.T. Level III Operator. Duties have included: executing numerous high risk warrants, missing / wanted person searches, barricaded suspects / gunmen, and hostage situations. In September of 2005, given the title of Team Leader. This was a nominated position in which other team members voted.
Team training consists of 16 hours per month and a quarterly weapons and physical training qualification. Currently hold Expert qualifications with Glock pistols, H&K MP5 sub-machinegun, and Colt M4 machine gun.
Atlanta H.I.D.T.A. High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area 10/01/07 – 11/19/2010
On October 1, 2007, promoted to Sergeant and transferred to the Atlanta H.I.D.T.A. As a sworn DEA Task Force Officer, duties included disrupting and dismantling drug trafficking and money laundering organizations. These duties are accomplished by managing confidential informants and conducting intelligence-driven multi-jurisdictional operations. The purpose of Atlanta HIDTA is to enhance the safety and effectiveness of law enforcement operations through training; and to improve communication and information sharing among criminal justice, drug prevention, and drug treatment professionals in support of the objectives of the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
C.M.A.N.S. Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad 10/06/02-10/01/07
Investigation of any crime as a result of a Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act. Duties include working in an undercover capacity, investigating anonymous phone tips, citizen complaints, tips from officers, as well as working with confidential informants. On April 3rd of 2005, promoted to Corporal / Supervisory Agent. Duties include supervising eight Agents, maintaining State Fund Account (Account which contains seized / forfeited drug funds) Media Relations, and training newly assigned Narcotics Agents.
Uniform Patrol Division Cherokee Sheriff’s Office 09/20/98 – 10/06/02
Principal responsibility was to provide 24 hour protection for the citizens of the county. Duties included prevention of street crimes through visible preventive patrol, responding to emergency 911 calls, reducing traffic congestion and accidents through sympathetic enforcement of traffic laws, responding to vehicle accidents, assisting citizens with legal, medical, social, or humanitarian problems through direct crisis intervention and/or making referrals to agencies equipped to deal with such problems; and to improve law enforcement and community relations through increasing the quality and quantity of contact between the citizens and the Sheriff’s Office.
On August 29th of 2000, promoted to Field Training Officer and took part in training approximately 20 newly assigned Deputies.
On May 29th 2001, assigned to Employee Advisory Committee. This is a committee which was formed to dispel interdepartmental rumors and solve minor problems as a result of break down in the chain of command. Each member has a one year commitment and is personally assigned by the Sheriff.
Adult Detention Center Cherokee Sheriff’s Office 4/28/97 – 09/20/98
Assisted in providing humane treatment for inmates sentenced for violating Georgia Criminal Code and for those persons who had been arrested for felony and misdemeanor crimes. Duties included: booking in / populating new inmates, manning control centers, monitoring inmate visitation, prisoner transports all over the state, approving inmate bonding procedures, and training newly assigned deputies.
911 Dispatcher Cherokee Sheriff’s Office 09/03/93 – 04/28/97
Duties included taking 911 emergency calls and dispatching the appropriate agency. Handled basic dispatch responsibilities for the Cherokee County Sheriff’s office, City of Woodstock Police, City of Canton Police, City of Holly Springs Police, Cherokee County Fire Services, and Cherokee County Emergency Medical Services. On March 24th of 1996, promoted to Assistant Shift Supervisor / Training Officer. Duties included supervising a shift of six dispatchers and training new employees.
